Membership
New bowlers
must, where necessary, receive instruction before being accepted
for membership. Club instructors provide courses for which
there is an initial charge of £25. If you fail to pass
the course the sum will not be refundable; if, however, you
pass the course the £25 will be deducted from the subscription
payable at the time.
Bowls
Advice
will be given on choosing bowls. Sets of bowls are available
for new bowlers to use during coaching. This will enable you
to select the size and weight of bowls which is most appropriate
for you. Once you take up membership, you would be expected
to have your own set of bowls.

Times
of Play
The bowls
season normally runs from 1 May to 30 September. The actual
dates are determined each year by the Bowls Management Committee
in consultation with the green-keeper. The green may be used
from 10:30 unless maintenance is being carried out.
Social
Bowls
Rinks
are set aside for social bowls on certain days. These sessions
give bowlers an opportunity to improve their game and try
out playing a different position in the team.

If there

Rink
Bookings
Casual
play can take place at other times subject to rink availability.
A rink request book is kept in the Club House for members'
use and should be consulted before using a rink for a roll
up. Surrey competitions, matches, outside competitions and
club competitions take priority over roll ups. Rink allocation
is written up daily on the blackboard adjacent to the front
door of the Club House.

Matches
Friendly
matches are arranged against other clubs. Details of fixtures
are published in the Club Fixture List. As soon as you have
reach a suitable standard of play you will be encouraged to
put your name down for matches. Lists are displayed on the
Bowls notice board for bowlers to indicate their availability
to play in matches. When the captain has selected the teams
these are displayed, including the names of reserves. Those
selected should put a tick against their name if they are
still able to play. If you have been chosen but cannot play
you should ring the captain. Bowlers usually meet at the Club
House at a set time and share transport to away matches unless
they have indicated on the team selection sheet that they
will be travelling direct. Suppers/teas which take place after
most friendly matches are an opportunity to socialise with
members of other clubs. There is a supper fee, currently £3.00,
for all matches.
Competitions
A number
of Club competition are arranged each season culminating in
the final weekend at the beginning of September. You should
not enter competitions unless you are available for the finals.
The Club also participates in outside team competitions and
individuals enter competitions organised on a district, area
or national basis.
Visitors
Visitors
can play up to six time per year per individual. A charge
of £1.50 is payable and their name should be entered
in the visitors book located in the Club House before playing.
Visitors should also abide by the dress regulations.
